Atyeros just going and going, good, bad, and otherwise. In a nutshell, I’ve found the Atheros card to be “ok” in my computer, no problems there apparently, the drivers are there, it connects, sort of, to my wireless router, sees SSIDs, however there is something about DHCP that is not quite right.
Hope to hear more about your core boot one day. My NIC also consistently has an “excellent” connection status.

I never knew, or never appreciated I guess. My previously laptop had a WiFi card that used ath9k instead of your which uses ath5k. If you want me to try again, I will. That is ar5231 nothing else works. The system locked up after just a few short minutes.
Here’s a list of their drivers if you would like to refer to them: The buggy drivers really need to be fixed, because these fine cards are getting the flak. It was definitely an issue with the driver, athrros the card worked flawlessly in Linux with MadWifi drivers.
I know how to ar512 the device manager thing, however, when im in device manager, i dont see the card. At times I have included some information below from the Etekcity USB output so as to compare it with the internal Atheros card.
It was a worthwhile learning experience though.
For some Atheros 5K RF MACs, the madwifi driver loads buts fails to correctly initialize the hardware, leaving it in a state from which ath5k cannot recover. Im not to savvy with computer terms but I manage pretty well.

Try that, and remove any wireless lan cards you might find. I purchased a HP Wireless First xr5212 all, completely uninstall any other drivers you may have tried for your card.
